Paralysis, paresis or recent plaster immobilisation of leg

Recent bed rest or major surgeryBed-ridden for more than 3 days or major surgery in the last 12 weeks

Local tenderness along the deep venous system

Entire leg swollen

Calf swelling greater than 3 cm versus asymptomatic legMeasure 10 cm below the tibial tuberosity.

Pitting oedema greater in the symptomatic leg

Collateral superficial veins (non-varicose)

Previous documented DVT

Alternative diagnosis at least as likely as DVT
